Dear Colonoscopy

I know you only want the best for me and with that in mind I want to thank you for a good visit.  This is my 50 + years self second visit. As previously I was not happy about spending time with you.  My reasons have not changed. Firstly I am not pleased that I am asked to starve myself for 24 hours, before we meet, secondly the chalky substance that I am required to drink during these 24 hours as well as those pills you require I take are disgusting. The name of the pills creates a visual I need not share. Finally my controlling, serious white coat syndrome self is asked to give someone else control through the use of some form of sedation.  In spite of these considerations missing a visit with you is not an option. This visit assures that I will not become a victim of colon cancer, one of the cancers with the highest curability rates.

Colonoscopy, I know cancer can be horrific, I watched it take the life of the strongest man I have ever known and that you are offering me an alternative to a dreaded disease.  With this in mind I will share my letter with my SoOVer50 readers and hopefully this will help to get the message out that if they are 50, a SoOver50 or if they have a history of cancer in their family, it is time to make an appointment to visit your army of dedicated professionals who are offering an opportunity to potentially save your life!
